Where business meets the vineyard
The first thing you notice is the air. It smells like crushed grapes and old wood that has been warmed up by the sun. You step onto the gravel and it crunches under your shoes, loud in a good way. The old Kaikoura winery sits there like it has stories in its walls, and somehow it still feels ready for a new one. A work day, but not the usual kind.
People arrive with laptops and neat jackets, then they slow down without even trying. The vines pull your eyes outward. The hills sit quiet in the background. Inside, the rooms feel solid and a little rustic, like they can handle big ideas and messy whiteboard moments too. You can almost feel everyone breathe out at the same time.
A small ending
When the meeting wraps up, nobody rushes to leave. There is this soft pause, like you want to hold onto it for one more minute. It is still business, sure. But here it lands differently, calmer, brighter.
